MJB Associates
The law firm of Mickelson, Jacobs and Bozek LLC is an experienced family and matrimonial law practice committed to representing husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, grandparents and third parties in family court matters.

We represent individuals in from the inception of the action through the final judgment and in post judgment (after a final judgment has been entered) matters. All of the attorneys are skilled mediators and Collaborative Divorce attorneys.

Our Attorneys

Jeffrey D. Mickelson

Jeffrey Mickelson
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Florida and Nova University School of Law. He is a former co-chairman of the Family Law Section of the Hartford County Bar Association. Jeff practices exclusively in the area of family law, including litigation, collaborative law and mediation. Jeff volunteers as a Special Master for Hartford, New Britain and Middlesex County, as well as the Regional Custody Court for high conflict divorce and custody matters. He also volunteers in the Advice Day Pilot Program in Hartford Superior Court and the Families in Transition Program with the Children's Law Center. And Jeff is a special master for the Hartford Superior Court's Early Intervention Program.

Jeff is a member of the Connecticut Divorce Lawyers Association (CDLA), Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Practice (CCDM), International Association of Collaborative Practioners (IACP), and the Divorce Team of Connecticut, as well as the American, Connecticut, and Hartford County Bar Associations. Jeff is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and Florida.

Ira A. Jacobs

Ira A. Jacobs
Ira is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton and Syracuse University College of Law. The primary focus of his practice is in family law with litigation, collaborative law and mediation. Ira volunteers as a Special Master for Hartford, Tolland, New Britain and Middlesex County Courts and is a Special Master at the Hartford Superior Court's Early Intervention Program. He also volunteers in the Advice Day Pilot Program in Hartford Superior Court and the Families in Transition Program with the Children's Law Center.

Ira devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing children, including special needs children, as their attorney or guardian ad litem in Family and Probate Courts. Ira is a member of the CCDM, Connecticut Collaborative Divorce Group (CCDG), and Central Connecticut Collaborative Family Law Group (CCCFLG), IACP, as well as the Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations. Ira is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and New York.

Margaret M. Bozek

Margaret M. Bozek
Margaret is a graduate of Albertus Magnus College and the University of Connecticut School of Law. Her background includes work as a mediator with Family Relations in Superior Court and Small Claims Court. She concentrates her practice in the area of family law with litigation, collaborative law and mediation, as well as the representation of children. She volunteers as a Special Master for Hartford Superior Court, New Britain Superior Court and Regional High Conflict Custody Court.

Margaret also volunteers in the Advice Day Pilot Program in Hartford Superior Court and the Families in Transition Program with the Children's Law Center. She is a member of the CCDM, CCDG, CCCFLG, IACP, the Divorce Team of Connecticut, the Connecticut Bar Association, and is a co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Hartford County Bar Association. Margaret is admitted to practice law in Connecticut.

Edward J. Bryan

Edward J. Bryan
Eddie is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he received a Certificate in Tax Studies. His practice concentrates in the area of family law with litigation and mediation, as well as the representation of children. During his law school career, he earned a CALI Award for Excellence in Heath Care Law and Regulation, was a member of the Moot Court Board, and president of the Federalist Society.

Eddie volunteers with Connecticut Statewide Legal Services and was on the Pro Bono Honor Roll in 2012. He also volunteers with the United Way of Central Connecticut. Eddie is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, where he is a member of the Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations.

Legal Assistants

Any law practice is only as good as its support staff. Our practice is complemented by the superior services of Sheryl Goldberg, Kristin Paradise and Grace Ouellette, our qualified and professional legal assistants.

They are available to assist you and will act as liaisons for those times when our attorneys may be in court or with other clients.
